Prior to Your Registration Time

Before registering, process your degree audit and review your transcript on TruView Pay particular attention to your transfer work, and make sure that you do not enroll in a course for which you have already received credit. (If you entered Truman before Fall 2004, you will need to update your printed worksheet instead of processing a degree audit.)

Review available courses using the TruView open course list.  Tips for using the open course list are available here.

Check for course comments by clicking on the CRN for any course that has "Click CRN for Section Comment" listed in the Attribute column of the open course list.  Course comments appear under the course title and before the term and registration date information.

Check prerequisites and registration restrictions for each course in which you plan to register by clicking on the CRN and then clicking on the course title.  Courses that have course prerequisites have a PQ in the course attribute column of the open course list.  If a course is restricted to certain majors, programs, or classes, you will be able to see this information after clicking the CRN and then clicking the course title on the next screen.

Make a list of the courses in which you plan to enroll using a Schedule Planning Worksheet.

Make and keep an appointment with your academic advisor.  Get your Term RAC (Registration Access Code) from your advisor and note your first available registration date and time.  You can also find your first available registration time on the Registration Dates page.  You will not be able to register if you do not have your RAC.

Clear any holds that hold registration.  Your holds status is available via TruView by selecting the student tab, then selecting either "view holds" or "check my registration status."  If you have any questions about your holds, contact the office listed in your hold type.

Verify your user name and password.  If you have trouble logging into TruView, please stop by the IT Services Help Desk in McClain Hall 112.  You will need to provide a picture ID to have your password reset.

If you live off-campus, verify and update your local off-campus mailing address via TruView prior to registering for classes.  Select the student tab, then “view or update my address(es)”.

At Your Registration Time

Log on to TruView.  Click here for detailed log in instructions for first time users.

Select the student tab, then "register for classes or change my schedule."  Click on "Select Term" and use the drop down box to select the appropriate term, then click on the "Submit" button.  Click on the "Add/Drop Classes" link.

Enter your six-digit Term RAC (Registration Access Code) provided by your advisor.

On the Add/Drop Classes screen, you can add sections by entering the CRN (Course Reference Number) for each class on the add classes worksheet, or by searching for and selecting a course from the course search form. If you use the open course list to add courses, be careful not to add two or more sections of the same course.  The registration system will not check for repeated coursework.

Once you have entered all of your CRN’s, click on the Submit button to confirm your registration.  After confirming your registration, TruView will then display your schedule and any registration errors that may have occurred during the registration process.  See the Resolving Errors page if you need assistance with these errors.

To clear registration errors from the Add/Drop classes screen, click on "Submit Changes".

On the Add/Drop Classes screen, you can drop previously registered courses by selecting “drop” from the scroll down window in the action column of your current schedule.

To clear the worksheet without confirming your courses, click on the Reset button.

Remember to use the logout button to disconnect from TruView and ensure the privacy and security of your information.

For a detailed copy of your class schedule, return to the Student tab, then click on either "student detail schedule" or "student schedule by day and time".  You may also print your schedule from the "add/drop courses" screen.  Click on the print button in the toolbar of your browser for a paper copy of your schedule.
