How long should I expect to wait before I receive the checked copy of my graduation application in the mail?

Generally, it takes the Registrar's Office four to eight weeks from the date you turned in your application to check and return it.  Applications are checked in the order in which they are received.  If you waited until the due date to submit your application, it may take longer to receive your copy in the mail.

What should I do if I change my class schedule (add/drop) after I turn in my application?

You need to notify the Registrar's Office when you change your class schedule.  At that time, we will pull your application and review your changes.  If your graduation application has already been approved, we will recheck your application to ensure your changes will work.  Please note that it is your responsibility to notify the Registrar's Office of any changes that you make to your graduation application.

What if I need to register for classes before I receive the checked copy of my graduation application in the mail?

Go ahead and register for your classes as planned.  If you turned your application in by the due date, it should be returned in time for you to make necessary changes to your schedule before the next semester begins.

What do I do if my address or phone number changes after I turned in my graduation application?

If you live off off-campus, you should update your address and phone number by logging into TruView, or by contacting the Registrar's Office.  If you live on-campus, the Residence Life Office will make this change for you.

How will I complete the graduation clearance requirements?

After your application for graduation has been accepted, you will begin receiving information from various campus offices about clearance requirements.  Most of these notices will be sent to your campus e-mail account, so be sure to check it regularly.  To be cleared for graduation, you will need to complete your senior test, your portfolio, the Graduating Student Questionnaire (GSQ), complete the Information for University records form, pay the graduation fee and clear all outstanding financial obligations and holds.  Most of these requirements will be completed during your graduation semester.

In the Fall and Spring semesters, we hold a Graduation Fair to give you the opportunity to confirm that all of your clearance requirements have been met, and to give you an opportunity to finish any that still need to be completed.  During the Fair, representatives from the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs Office distribute commencement information and honor cords, a photographer takes graduation photographs, and caps, gowns, and other graduation merchandise is on sale.

What should I do if I decide to graduate in a later semester?

Notify the Registrar's Office as soon as you make this decision so that we can update your application.

Whom should I contact if I have further questions about my graduation application?

You are welcome to contact the Registrar's Office with any additional questions you have about your application or your degree requirements.  We are located in McClain Hall 104.  Our phone number is 660-785-4143, and our e-mail is registrar@truman.edu.
